The Truth About the S.A.T. & A.C.T.

I know this does not have a lot to do with all things geeky, but it does have a connection in a way. Geeks value knowledge (generally) and this has to do with knowledge. So here goes...

Eugenics, if you were not aware of the term, is the process of breeding humans to make them "super human". It was the basis of Adolf Hitler's "Final Solution" and the Holocaust. It was and is the justification for racism. Along with this theory is the idea that anyone of below average intelligence not only could not be "educated" but also that eventually they should NOT be allowed to reproduce. At one point or another the majority of the States in the U.S.A. has laws on the books that allowed for the forced sterilization (or neutering) of people who did not have the right type of intelligence. This was also the case for most nations in Europe. Fortunately these laws were repealed around the Second World War. Still, the fact that a test that is used to allow for admittance to the majority of our universities indicates that we as a nation (perhaps as a world?) have not fully rejected the ideas of eugenics. Furthermore, this shows how stuck in the past the U.S. Education system is. Therefore the question MUST be asked, why does our education system still use it?
